Senior Shopify Developer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Pact is looking for a Senior Shopify Developer who will be responsible for the overall technical implementation of custom Shopify themes and front end development. The ideal candidate should have several years of experience leading Shopify projects, deep expertise in Shopify best practices, and be comfortable integrating with the broader Shopify ecosystem of apps and services.

You'll take an active role in the development of the work, but also play an integral part in the project's overall success – working closely with our clients to understand their goals and constraints, leading technical demos and iterating alongside our design team throughout the design and development process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own medium to high complexity frontend feature development, driving both completion and quality
  • Build new Shopify sites from the ground up, implement custom features, and integrate third-party Shopify apps to meet client requirements
  • Deliver features on time even with limited details, designs, or requirements while anticipating risks and proactively raising flags when timelines are at risk
  • Distill complex requirements into actionable solutions and tasks, providing feedback on design completeness, feature feasibility, and implementation effort
  • Create beautiful, functional frontend experiences with engaging animations and transitions, maintaining high attention to detail
  • Review code submissions from other team members to ensure completeness, performance, and quality
  • Lead or participate in client meetings and demos to demonstrate project progress, gather technical requirements, and support team members facing technical challenges

REQUIREMENTS

Shopify Experience

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Shopify development experience including Themes, Shopify APIs (Admin API, Storefront API), Apps, Functions, Extensions, and Checkout customizations
  • Deep familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem including popular apps and integrations such as Klaviyo, Attentive, Yotpo, Gorgias, ReCharge, Tapcart, Nosto, and other commonly used Shopify apps

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Liquid, JavaScript, HTML/CSS/SCSS, GraphQL, REST, and Git
  • Familiarity with modern development workflows including build tools, testing, and performance optimization
  • Comfortable leveraging AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code quality

Professional Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, developers, and project managers
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage commitments across multiple projects
  • Sound judgment to balance code quality, issue resolution, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to estimate project scope and approaches for assigned work
